Maycen just had her 4 month shots, poor thing. She weighs 14 pounds and 2.5 oz was 24.25 inches long and her head circ still in the lower percentile was 38.5cm but growing great with her growth curve.
Maycen has full conversations with me know and babbles away mostly just before bed, she still rolls from tummy to her back and she almost has back to tummy figured out on her own. She has found her thumb now and her night sleep has been better this week.
We are off to Arizona to see Jared and for Maycen to meet her Auntie Kimmy and Niece Xochitl. Jared and I will celebrate my Bday and our 4th Anniversary finally a Cinco De Mayo in style.
I am really excited for Jared to see her as she has gotten a lot more interactive and Smiley.
We have some added stress with the Daycare situation. I thought I had it all figured out with my work schedule and my daycare provider decided to tell me short notice that she could not provide daycare for Maycen with my hours as of May 1st. I am back to square one interviewing Nannies and calling around to post care to see if there are any slots open. I just hate the stress of trying to figure it all out. I am sure it will work out, it is just another transition.

I know there are bigger woes in the world but come on!
So I got home from my first full 12 hour shift with Maycen in Daycare and it ends up being 14 hours at Daycare and I get in the door about 8Pm or later. All of my attention should go to Mayce but as I walked in I noticed the dog was at the back slider, out of his dog run. He was covered in dirt and had dug out of his dog run. Jared spent the last few hours of his last day here putting down chicken wire and rock so the dog would not be able to dig out. Anyway he was filthy and super whiny bbecause he wanted me to let him in and play. I made him sleep in is kennel in the garage. So today it is 70 degrees and finally getting out of the house around 3 I thought I would take him to the water to get rinsed off and to play. We get there and the tide is out so you have to trek about 150 ft in clam shells and seaweed and then the water was super mucky. But by the time I got Maycen out of the car and trucked down to the waters edge with my chair, my hyper dog, and my fussing baby in tow and all to realize it was all muddy, the dog was already in the water. So I decided to go with it and throw his ball, well the dog has this wonderful habit of dropping his ball about three feet from the shoreline, which I might add is also nice and mucky with a few dead crabs and I have cute new flipflops on that are already being ruined from the half way clean saltwater running across my toes. So then I spent the entire time yelling at Chopper to get his ball. You see if I decide to venture into the water to get the ball he will jump and splash and get me all wet and muddy, if it is shallow he will also shake dirt and water all over me, I have learned from my previous mistakes with this dog. But If I don't get the ball he will loose interest and harass every other dog in site which there were several. So I was trying to get him to get the ball and bail outta there but that just wasn't happening he thought it was this great game where he would jump onto of the ball submerging it only making it go out further into the muddy water. So we finally got all packed up to go after several rounds of shouting at the dog and Maycen was now fully pissed because she was napping when we arrived but I had to take her out of the car seat to go down to the water. So I get back to the car and now the dog is more filthy than he was he dug outta the dog run. He jumps up on the towel in my car and decides to give it one more shake just as a close the gate around him. Are you kidding me!!! I was so pissed, we get home and I am rinsing him off which I should have just done in the first place (instead of trying to have a nice afternoon at the beach with the dog and baby) and he runs directly into this bush by my house and is covered in sand... I so hate my dog right now. So finally he goes into his kennel and I come in here to type this and well now Maycen is crying so I have to go but just had to vent. I know there are worse things in the world but am I cursed with chaos???
Oh I forgot to add to top it off once we finally headed back up to the car at the beach, Chopper decided to take a huge dump right infront of this family having a snack at the picnic table, usually the good poo picker up that I am ...I just left it, I was so done!

Favorite things and Not So Hot
I wanted to keep track of the items of Mommyhood that I love and like and Hate! So here it goes hope you find it helpful!
Like-
Platex Drop ins pump kit fits with medela, works great fo traveling. I really only use this connection for pumping at work for ease of feeding for daycare and when I traveled because it is so compact! Unfortunately you have to buy two kits for both sides of the pump.
I love the Modela freestyle Breastpump...so worth the money!
My Hippo zip up play mat with toy bar for kicking! This was something I got at the thift shop and I love it, we took it to Hawaii and it was so compact, we take it to friends houses and always have a place to lay her that is clean, she loves to play on it! 0-3mon
Baby Ktan Carrier- This is great if you get the right size for you, this carrier is soft and still has pretty good support for a baby 0-4 months, after that it may be too hard on your back. I like it because I can breastfeed with this carrier almost hands free, Maycen isn't always so fond of it when it smooches her head.
Targets circo brand sleep and plays, these are cute and comfy not too heavy so good for even summer when you want to keep um covered from the sun.
Ihome color cube subwoofer for Ipod! SO cute and changes color in my nursery, I use the light as a night light. I love that I can play the nursery rhymes for her on it, but I need another I pod so I can actually remember to take my ipod out of my gym bag.
Snap and GO! I love this lightweight stroller for my carseat, it has enough storage and It is convienent and smaller for travel and getting in and out of the car.
Qwik cabana- We took this sun stopr kiddy tent to Hawaii, it is compact and easy assembly for bringing to the beach!
Lily Padz- Breast pads, these are soo much better than the Cotton, disposible ones once you get out and about and get going. The cotton pads are good for the first month or so but once you want to look nice in your shirts this is the better way to go!
Like-
Window shades, these are plastic that adhere to the window, they work great because they allow you to still unroll the window. The downfall is they sometimes peel off with the change in temperature so I used double sided tape and it stays put!
I ordered some pacifiers with her name on them, unfortunately she prefers the green gummy ones but I like the ones with her name for daycare so I know it is not getting mixed up with another kiddos nuk.
I used bibs on her while we went on the plane, kept it from falling off of her and my lap... worked as her burp cloth I just kept it on her and put it over my shoulder when I burped her worked great!
Love/Hate! I hate that my Graco snugride is already so heavy, and getting heavier with each feed...but I love the pattern (Rittenhouse), it is easy to get her in and out.
Pants that have footies built in! Maycen kicks off her shoes too much and in the winter the pants with built in feet were great when I wanted to put her in an outfit instead of a onsie or sleeper. I hate that they really don't make a ton of these, they are hard to find and most are PJ's for sleeping.
Hate-
I hate the boppy, this is pointless and kills my back for actual breastfeeding and it slips away and I need to use a pillow with it. It is good for tummy time and resting her in but otherwise I hate this, I have three and I heard the My breast friend was better but I have not tried it.
Hate- Do no use Desitin! This product is horrible I got it as a gift and even as a nurse had no clue how bad it is. This will actually make your childs rash worse in a matter of hours and applying it will make you little one wince in pain and fight to keep you away from their tooshie! Poor babies this should be removed from the market. Regular Zinc or Baby Aveeno diaper rash creme is the best!
Love for Births- Brush ups for while you are in Labor and can't get out of bed with your epidural to brush your teeth.
Websites and books that were refferred to me:
Happiest Baby on the block, Video or book- Great for New Dads!
Babywise book- take it with a grain of salt but some good ideas!
The secrets of the baby whisperer...did not read this
addalittlelove.com all your breastfeeding needs website and answers questions
Barefootbook.com Great for when they get older and also finger puppet books for gift ideas!
sittercity.com for military personal to look for nanny's and child care for free to search
Naccra- apply for reimbursed child care if you are off post

Daycare and funny qwirks!
Maycen has been in her Daycare for 2 weeks now. She has already gotten sick with a cold and diarrhea and given me her cold. So my first weekend with Maycen we both just slept and tried to get better. We are a week into it and still both of us are plugged up. Poor Maycen is terrified of the blue bulb syringe, and I feel so bad for her but it is a must. If I don't do it she chokes on snot all night, it wakes her up coughing and she pukes up her food. So Green and Yellow it is! Poor thing, she gets so mad at me. It is just not fair, as a nurse it is my Job to do that to other little kids at work, and I rarely feel bad about it because I know it helps them and then they can get comforted by their mom or dad and I can just be the mean nurse, but for Maycen I am the mean one and then I am comforting her, it must send the worst mixed message to her and I feel bad for that, I don't want her to fear me, even if it is for her own good. It's so sad, she knows when its coming and gets so upset.
It amazes me how smart a 3 month old is already and how much she is aware of her surroundings, I have learned that Maycen hates having her legs covered at night when she sleeps. I want her to have them covered because it is cold in the room and when I go in and find them uncovered they are cold and mottled. She is so determined, she will pull herself out of the swaddle blanket Velcro and flop her legs out or pull her pants off with her feet if I put pants on her, she is not a fan of the sleep sacks or the sleepers with elastic those just make her mad. She even paid so much attention to it that when she fell asleep and I stood over her crib waiting for her to fall asleep so I could rest a blanket on her legs she instantly put her feet up and began fussing at me. It actually made me laugh that she had busted me, how can a 3 month old have such an opinion about something, so bizarre!
I also noted the past few weeks, she is not a huge fan of a pacifier but one of her things she does when she is tired and getting ready to sleep when I breastfeed her she has to bring her hand to her eye and rub it, it is usually just her right hand and eye but sometimes her left and she will move her hand all around like she is waving but while she is rubbing her eye.
Daycare- I think it is going OK, I haven't had a breakdown about it yet! Jared heard me criticize every little thing I did not like the first week, from they were watching TV again to no hand sanitizer in sight. I guess I am happy with who we chose, we interviewed a lot of Nanny's and a few daycares and I like the lady but it is not my home and it is not me taking care of her so like my Mom said nothing will be good enough. She is going to an in-home daycare, the one thing I do not like it that the lady is driving her places, this makes me nervous, she also does a switch a rue with her Ex. for joint custody with her kids and has to take Maycen with her for the drop off, this makes me a bit unsettled. Since she is working with my later hours, I work till about 8 pm most shifts and she is willing to do a weekend shift here and there, I can't really say no, I mean a person has to run errands and she is also a parent to 4 kiddos and her Fiance is deployed so she has no one to do the errands for her. It just concerns me that there is already so much co-motion going on in their home with moving kids from place to place and I just feel like poor Maycen is getting lost in the shuffle.
I was a bit concerned the other day because she did not inform me of where she was taking Maycen. That is all I have asked at this point is to be kept in the loop if she brings her in the car. I got off work early and called to see if she could hold out on feeding her so I could Breastfeed her and she said oh are you at the house, I said no and she said oh I had to run a few Errands to Walmart and Costco, we will be there in a few minutes. When I got there she still hadn't unloaded the car but it seemed like she rushed into the house with Maycen and then I pulled up.
Maycen had a bad night once she was home the night she took her to run errands, she cried and was super irritable probably just over tired, so all sorts of things run through my mind, She had crusty tears in her corners of her eyes...did she even take her to the store with her...was she left home alone crying, did she just cry the entire time in the store? Did she leave her in the car? I told her that she has to inform me when she takes her anywhere outside of the daycare in her car. I would prefer for her not to drive with her at all but I don't really have any other options as of now. My Mom made a good point though... I am paying her for piece of mind and when I don't have that I can't concentrate on my Job at work. On the positive side,
I do like that Mayce is talking more and I know it because of the other little voices at Daycare, Now if she is upset you can her her babbling sounds instead of just crying and she talks more happy talk as well. So that is a good thing, the kids there call her Baby Medicine a lot because one little boy can't pronounce things very well. They really are very sweet to her but I just think oh germmy little kids, they come and kiss her and touch her all in her face right when we walk in. Maycen was in Daycare with a 4 month old as well but that baby won't be there anymore so for now Maycen is the only Baby there so that makes me feel better that she will get more one on one attention hopefully. OK enough venting about Daycare, I am sure it will get better once we are in a routine more.

Easter was my last weekend before I went back to work from my Maternity Leave and also before Jared left to go to School in Arizona. This is the beginning of the summer which also means the beginning of Jared's busy season which is starting a bit early with him being gone already at school in AZ and Alabama in May.
Maycen gave Jared and I a fun little Easter gift and one that he was glad to have seen, she rolled over, practically on command for us for the first time from her tummy to her back rolling on to her right side. She had already started daycare last week for practice, I brought her on Friday for 4 hours and she will go on Monday for 6 hours. I joked that she probably did it in daycare and we didn't even know.
