Dining reservations are great and helpful

I recommend making a reservation for chef mickey if you want to get character photos versus waiting in line for meeting characters. It is pricey but the food is great and you get to see each character for a good amount of time!

Character questions and involvement:

Always ask them a question related to the theme of course and they will engage with you more!!! It’s fun for kids to think these up it can be throughout the park…Mickey who’s a better chef you or minney/donald?  Mickey when are you going to marry Minney?  This is throughout the Park!

Fun Photo ops out of park if you have time.

Art of Animation has a tram and a shop, they now won’t let you past the gates easily unless you have a hotel reservation…not sure about the Tram, if you try they might they let us in after pleading our case in 2023 and you can walk around the property over several buidlings and see some great art from all the movies, great for Cars and Lion King fan.

Fireworks and Laser light shows!
If you can't get to all your rides a great time is to do it during the Fireworks/lightshow displays at each park.  If you know your not going to watch it one night plan some of the longer wait rides like Tron for example during this time ( Guardians of the Galaxy still required a reservation in 2023 and Lightening lane was blocked out of this newer ride) We tried though to no end.  The kids were older so the fireworks weren't a big deal to them and running from ride to ride was so cool as the music and the lights dropped down it was so magical.

One thing I will share is at Magic kingdom, they have a lazer light show and fireworks and if you are in front of the castle for the lazer you wil tinkerbell fly to the castle but you probably won't have a good view of the fireworks as they are behind the castle.  We could only see the sides. if you are there two nights or more then nots a big deal. But its good to get in place and have your snacks or icecream inhand before hand:)

I am not a huge masker but this year I might be, in 2016 when we were there for a work conference with our kids, I had so many things planned and I remeber the exact snotty kid that coughed on us while we waited in line day 1. Sadly, 2-3 days later we all got sick with the Flu and fell one by one. We had 3 days of unused  non transferable park passes that expired in 7 days and ended up in Disney world's urgent care twice.  So expect germs and plan accordingly, especially in February!!!  This was an expensive trip and it was devistating to have it ruined by the Flu!  Think about getting your kids                                                                       the Flu shot or boosters if you haven't done that yet.  (Yes, I                                                                       am a Pediatric Nurse and no one is paying me to say that)

We also checked out some local tourist things to do! We went to Gatorland and did a fan boat tour. They are a pretty fun they do get cold, weather depending!  The kids got to hold and take a photo with a mini Aligator

We went in February and it can be very cold there 40 degrees in the AM and then warm up to the 70-80s in the afternoon.  So plan accordingly, bring blankets and even rain coats and mittens/hats.

Lightening Passes

Historically, Disney offered a free FastPass option to skip the line at select rides by making an advance reservation with your park ticket. Disney retired that free option years ago.

The latest Disney FastPass iteration is a paid program called “Lightning Lane” with two distinct options: the Lightning Lane Single Pass and the Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

Here’s how Disney's "new FastPass" system works, how much Lightning Lane passes cost and their eligible attractions.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Lightning Lane Multi Pass directly replaces Disney’s former Genie+ program.

With a Multi Pass, you can select three experiences and your preferred arrival window in advance before entering the park through the Disney app. Park Hoppers who are visiting multiple Disney parks in a single day can select up to three total experiences across parks.

After redeeming a Lightning Lane request — or after two hours has passed since making a selection — you can choose another Multi Pass attraction so you have three experiences at any given time, subject to availability.

To buy any LIghtning Lane Pass, you must have a valid park admission and a theme park reservation. This add-on option starts at $32 per ticket, per day. Pricing varies based on your visit date and is also subject to availability.

This pass option also includes unlimited Disney photoPass downloads from your day, and access to augmented-reality Disney PhotoPass Lenses.

When to buy Lightning Lane fast passes

When you can purchase your Lightning Lane Multi Pass depends on the Disney resort you’re visiting.

For Disneyland Resort guests, you can buy a Lightning Lane Multi Pass in advance when you purchase your admission ticket, or through the Disneyland app upon entering the park on the day of your reservation. The option to add a Multi Pass to an existing ticket might also be possible. Disneyland theme park visitors can buy a Lightning Lane Single Pass upon entering their reserved theme park.

At Disney World, guests who are staying at an eligible resort hotel can purchase a Multi Pass or Single Pass up to seven days ahead of time. Otherwise, guests can purchase a Multi Pass up to three days in advance of their visit.

Getting a Disney FastPass: Are new Lightning Lane Passes worth it?

If you want to reduce as much time waiting in standby lines as possible, buying both a Lightning Lane Multi Pass and a Lightning Lane Single Pass will help you maximize your time (if your budget allows for both).

After all, the wait times for popular rides like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train can be well over an hour. Weigh the cost of Lightning Lane Passes for your entire group against the estimated wait time to decide if it's worth it for you.

What makes your decision even more complicated is the fact that Disney's new FastPass system cost isn’t fixed, so it might be higher or lower based on which pass you choose and when you’re at a park.

If you’re spending multiple days at the parks, you don’t have to cram your schedule with back-to-back attractions from open to close. With a multi-day ticket, you can spread out your to-do list and increase your chances of getting on the popular rides without a Lightning Lane Pass.

Consider purchasing Lightning Lane Passes when you don’t have much time at the parks, the wait times are longer than 60 minutes and when the cost isn’t at peak pricing. Otherwise, just keep swimming.

Adult Time! Just kidding we will all be exausted!!!

Disney After Hours

  • Music: The event DJ spins music near Mission: SPACE and Cosmic Rewind.
  • Dance party: Chip 'n' Dale perform dance moves at the dance party.
  • Live music: Mariachi Cobre and live bands perform at the Canada Mill Stage.
  • PhotoPass photographers: Select PhotoPass photographers are stationed throughout the park.

Hope this helps put all the info in a more concise place.  The Disney My Experience App is going to be your go to for all activities and events and booking food! Feel free to message me if you have questions. We have done a lot of Disney World and We have done Universal in CA. I have been to all the parks although some have been a few years!

https://attractionsmagazine.com/comparing-universal-studios-hollywood-universal-orlando-resort/

I also recomend if you like roller coasters to take a day trip (1.5 hours from Orlando) out to Bush Garden's they do have a military rate and these are some of the scariest and best rollercoasters I have ever been on!  I have been on a lot! My husband is skipping Disney for a day here!

There is so much to do and see in this area it can get expensive and overwhelming quick!  If you haven't been, keep it simple pick one or two parks and plan it out and let the rest of the time just be chill or focus on the competition!

 Hope this helps!
